Summer Movie Day

Children’s movies for $1.50 all summer long at Island Cinemas on St. Simons Island. Doors open at 9:15 am and the movie begins at 10:00 am every Tuesday and Thursday. Friday Fun Day

Climb the 129 steps to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy exploring the interactive galleries in the Lighthouse Museum for FREE, that’s right, free! Every Friday in June children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge to the Lighthouse Museum. Games, crafts, and family activities will all take place each Friday as well! Little Light Music

Sunday, July 3 pack a picnic supper and cooler of your favorite beverages, grab your lawn chairs and blankets and come down to the St. Simons Lighthouse lawn for a seaside concert of Motown and R&B hits from the Harwell, GA band Still Cruzin’. This concert in the A Little Light Music summer series is presented by the Coastal Georgia Historical Society. Adult admission is $12, payable at the gate. Music starts at 7:00 p.m., but you’ll want to get there early to grab a good seat. We promise there will be a crowd.

Sunshine Festival

The Sunshine Festival kicks off on Saturday, July 2 with more than 76 local and regional artists and crafters set up in Postell Market displaying and selling their creations. The juried show includes painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, garden art, artisan products, wood crafts, and more. The Arts & Crafts show will continue through the weekend and the 4th of July with booths open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. For more info and a full schedule of events go to

4th of July Fireworks on SSI

Fireworks will take place at the St. Simons Island Village Pier on Monday, the 4th, as usual. Come down early to grab a good seat. The waterfront park will be filled with music from the St. Simons Casino bandstand beginning at 3:00 p.m. and perform until the fireworks at 9:00 p.m. and then keep the party going for those who stick around after the explosive finale too.

Bring the family and participate together in a 1 mile fun run and 5K race on July 4th. The 1 mile fun run begins at 7:30am, and the 5k race starts at 8:00am.
