Christmas Tradition On St. Simons Island Lives On!
Each year with the help of Glynn County Fire department and the St. Simons Island Civinettes, Santa visits the island in his antique red firetruck. Starting around 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve you will hear sirens sound as Santa and his entourage of firetrucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles make their way through the streets. Children will get to enjoy time with Santa to remind him of any last minute Christmas wishes as well as receive a stocking stuffer from the volunteers.
This family friendly tradition has carried on for many decades with adults and children alike looking forward to it every Christmas season. Santa has added a few new stops to his route so make sure you plan accordingly so you don’t miss him! Take a look at his tentative route and be sure to catch him at your location of choice!
The route primarily takes Santa along Demere Road, Mallory Street and Frederica Roads with stops at the following locations;
1. St. Simons Casino Theatre at approximately 5:00 pm.
2. NEW LOCATION…Coast Guard Bathhouse
3. Shops at Demere
4. NEW LOCATION…Brogans North
5. First African Baptist Church
We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
From Hodnett Cooper, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
