It has been fifty years since the Glynn Academy Red Terrors won a Georgia State High School Football Championship. As the 2014 team seeks to bring another trophy home, the entire community is celebrating.
This Friday at 11:00 a.m. on the Glynn Academy campus, players and cheerleaders from the 1964 Championship Team will pass the megaphone on to a group of this year’s squad in what will be a moving celebration. The captain of the 1964 cheerleading team is not in good health and one of her last wishes is to make certain her megaphone is returned to the school.
In addition, the Glynn Academy Booster Club has rented two charter buses to take Glynn Academy fans to and from the Friday night game where the Red Terrors (9-3) will square off against traditional powerhouse Northside Warner Robins (11-1). The game will be played at Anderson Stadium in Fort Valley. The bus is offered free of charge and seating is limited to 99 fans. To reserve a seat, call Scott Ferrell at 912-657-7576.
At noon on Friday, November 28, local police and fire departments will escort the Red Terror team buses from the Glynn Academy campus as they head east on Mansfield Street and north on Newcastle Street through downtown Brunswick, Georgia. Fans are encouraged to line the streets and cheer, giving the squad a proper sendoff and our best wishes for a victory!
All of us at Hodnett Cooper Real Estate and Hodnett Cooper Vacation Rentals wish the Glynn Academy Red Terrors the best of luck this Friday night!
