The first in The Coastal Symphony of Georgia 2010-2011 season series, Music of the Royals: The United Kingdom, is sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Monday, October 18, 2010 at 8:00 pm at the Glynn Academy Memorial Auditorium

Music will include works by Britten, Handel, Grainger and Elgar.

Guest Conductor Dr. Simons Shaio is a string professor and conductor of the University of North Florida Orchestra.  A versatile violinist, he has performed at Carnegie Hall as a recitalist, and with both string quartet and orchestra.  As a conductor of the UNF Orchestra, Dr. Shiao present a wide array of concerts each year, and has worked with several international orchestras in Taiwan and Belize, performing at the National Concert Hall of Taiwan and Bliss Centre in Belize.

Guest artist, Vernon Humbert, studied cello at Easter Illinois University and the University of Illinois.  He has preformed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, and has served as assistant principal cellist in Jacksonville Symphony for ten years and section cellist for almost twenty years.  His teaches include Donald Tracy, Gabriel Majyar, Robert Swensen and Laurien Laughman.  He has taught chamber music at the Summertios Festival for a number of years and is one of the founds of the Prelude Chamber Music Camp held in Jacksonville, teaching chamber music to string players.
