As Autumn is upon us, there are a few things you can do to prepare your home for the fall and winter elements. Carefully inspect your roof for missing or loose shingles—leaks and cold weather can create havoc if left unrepaired. Seal and insulate your doors and windows for energy efficiency and savings in colder weather. If you have a fireplace, make sure it is in proper working order before starting your first fire. And with leaves falling, make sure your gutters are clean and free of clogs. In Brunswick, St. Simons Island and all of South Georgia, we are blessed with mild winters, but our homes do need to be prepared for the season.
