It’s an event so hot and spicy, you might want to bring a hankie and a jug of water! That’s right, it’s the 2014 Red Hot Chili Cookoff sponsored by the Golden Isles Rotary Club.
On Saturday, March 1, the competition begins. Restaurants, organizations and individuals compete for the coveted Best Chili award. The cookoff takes place on St. Simons Island at Postell Park in the pier/village area. Doors open at 11am, and tastings begin at 11:30. With your entry fee, you can taste as many chili concoctions as your taste buds can handle, then cast your vote for your favorites.
As you stroll the park, taste the recipes and drink your water, enjoy live music from the Stringrays.
At 2pm, the trophies will be awarded and the Best Chili of 2014 will be celebrated until next year’s cookoff. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of one of St. Simons Island’s greatest and tastiest events!
Tickets prior to March 1 are $5 or $8 at the door (children’s tickets are $3). All proceeds benefit local charities.
