St. Simons Land Trust Presents the 14th Annual Oyster Roast

OysterRoast2013Print

On Saturday, November 23, the St. Simons Land Trust holds its 14th Annual Oyster Roast. The event will take place from 5-8pm at Gascoigne Pak and the evening features live music, classic Southern food, oysters, desserts, beer and wine.

Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Simons Land Trust whose mission is to preserve the Island’s natural and scenic character and to enhance the quality of life for the Island community for present and future generations.

Today, the Land Trust has preserved more than 776 acres on St. Simons Island including the John Gilbert Nature Trail on Frederica Road and the green space at the roundabout on Frederica and Demere Roads. The Land Trust has a membership base of 1,250 households. The St. Simons Land Trust works with willing property owners to preserve their land using tools that include conservation easements, donations of land and purchases of land through tax advantaged “bargain sales.” The Land Trust has developed a Greenprint as their strategic plan for land conservation on the island.

The Oyster Roast is a fundraising event open to St. Simons Land Trust members and non-members. Each year the Oyster Roast is a memorable community event and celebration.

Tickets are $45 for Land Trust members if purchased before November 1 ($50 after November 1). Tickets for non-members are $75. A limited number of tickets are available. To purchase, phone 912-638-9109 or visit sslt.org.
