This Memorial Day, the Rotary Club of St. Simons Island hosts the 23rd annual “Taps at Twilight.” This moving event brings our community together and honors the men and women who have fallen in the service of our country, those who have valiantly served and returned and those who are serving today.
Last year’s Taps at Twilight may have had the highest attendance as thousands of people gathered at oceanfront Neptune Park in honor and remembrance.
The event begins with a military flyover followed by presentation of the colors and patriotic music by the Golden Isles Community Concert Band. This year’s featured speaker is Georgia Governor Nathan Deal.
The St. Simons Island community is proud to participate in this annual event and we hope Island residents, visitors and neighboring communities will join us again this year as we pay tribute to those who serve in the United States Armed Forces.
