Veterans Day Parade on St. Simons Island

Hodnett-Cooper-St-Simons-Veterans-Day1Each year on Veterans Day, the St. Simons Island, Brunswick and Golden Isles community celebrate those who have served with a parade through the south end of St. Simons Island, Georgia.

The parade includes veterans groups, marching bands and other community groups. All veterans are invited to join the parade.

The parade begins Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 10:15am at the Mallery Ball Field and proceeds down Ocean Boulevard (right past the Hodnett Cooper office at 520 Ocean Boulevard) then through the village area and Mallery Street. We encourage residents and visitors alike to line the parade route and honor our veterans.

Following the parade, a ceremony to honor the Veteran of the Year award will be held at 11am at the St. Simons Island Casino. The award is given to an area veteran for service in the military and the community after the end of their military career. This year, they keynote speaker will be Navy Read Admiral Charles Richard, Commander of Submarine Group 10. This recipient of this year’s award is Air Force Veteran Jack Donald Campbell.

Bring a lawn chair to enjoy both the parade and the Veteran of the Year award ceremony. We welcome you to join the Hodnett Cooper team by standing alongside us at 520 Ocean Boulevard.

Don’t miss the chance to join Hodnett Cooper and St. Simons Island in thanking and celebrating our veterans.
