Hodnett Cooper Real Estate has always been a family-owned business. Currently, we have three generations working together. Now in his 90s, founder Roy Hodnett, comes to work every day. He continually emphasizes the importance of a positive attitude.

Starting this year, Hodnett Cooper Real Estate will be presenting the “Roy Hodnett Positive Person Award” to one team member in the Brunswick office and one team member in the St. Simons Island office. The award can be give for any number of reasons that fall under the “positive person” umbrella. For example: helping a fellow employee with a difficult situation, participating in a charitable event, rescuing a dog, covering the front desk for a sick employee or taking food to a family in need. The award winner is the person that never says “no” when someone needs assistance, or the person that always makes you smile. The award recipient chooses the next month’s recipient based on those criteria.

Hodnett Cooper is pleased to announce the recipients of the inaugural Roy Hodnett Positive Person Award for January, 2015:

Winnie Skarpalezos – always smiling and always positive, Winnie is a ray of sunshine in the St. Simons Island office. She assists her coworkers in many different ways. She is a team player and always optimistic. For her upbeat disposition, Winnie receives the Roy Hodnett Positive Person Award.

Rachel Fitzpatrick – each December, Rachel gathers a group of neighbors, friends and colleagues for the “Don’t Be A Scrooge” event. She identifies families in the community who are in need and spearheads an overwhelming number of donations, necessities and gifts that make their holidays brighter and last throughout the year. The event has grown over the years and many families in crisis have been strengthened as a result. For her commitment to giving and positive impact, Rachel receives the Roy Hodnett Positive Person Award.

About Winnie Skarpalezos:

Winnie Skarpalezos grew up in a real estate family. Her father enjoyed a successful real estate career as a residential and commercial broker. Winnie’s father and brother encouraged her to start a career in real estate. Her first week, she had a sale and knew she was in the right field. Winnie was named “Rookie of the Year” in 1999 by the Golden Isles Association of Realtors. She has also been a member of the “Circle of Excellence,” “Million Dollar Club” and is a graduate of the Georgia Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. Winnie enjoys facilitating transactions with all parties involved—from the client to the inspector to the attorney to the bank. In every transaction, Winnie brings hard work, honesty and follow through.

Winnie was born and raised on St. Simons Island. She enjoys the beach and cycling year round. And she loves a nice boat ride on the many rivers nearby.

About Rachel Fitzpatrick:

Before beginning her real estate career in 2007, Rachel Fitzpatrick worked in marketing and public relations. She brings that experience to her clients today, helping them find the perfect home where they will make memories and continue traditions. Rachel particularly enjoys working with first-time home buyers, as Rachel is as excited and enthusiastic about finding the ideal home as her clients. She guides them through the search and transaction and works hard so buyers will not have to settle for less than their dream.

Rachel stays involved in the community by working on the Community Relations Committee at the Golden Isles Association of Realtors, volunteering at the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia, the American Cancer Society and the Salvation Army. When she is not working or volunteering, Rachel enjoys traveling, finds peace at the beach or in the mountains, and loves spending time with her young son.
