Fall is the perfect time of year in the Golden Isles! The days are still warm enough to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lay by the pool. The nights start to cool off a bit so you can enjoy walking to dinner or opting for dinner on the patio instead of inside. There is never a lack of great family friendly activities on St. Simons and the surrounding areas, but this time of year the outdoor activities are endless! Rhythm on the River
Come on out to the Rhythm on the River event from 8:00 p.m. at Mary Ross Waterfront Park: Bay & Gloucester Streets. Bring the kids, chairs or blanket, a picnic and your favorite beverage.

It’s almost time for school to start back. The summer flew by fast like it always does but before the kids begin a new year, treat them to one last trip to the beach. With family fun activities like Summer Waves water park and Neptune park, the kids are sure to love their final week of freedom! There’s no better way to send them back to school than after some fun in the sun on St Simons Island. An added bonus for the parents, we’ve got three restaurants on the island where kids eat for FREE. Whether they like burgers or burritos we have got them covered. Join over 70 talented artists & skilled crafts people from around the region display an impressive & eclectic collection of handmade artwork; at the 24th annual Art in the Park Fine Art & Craft festival. Attendees will enjoy a wide variety of 2-dimensional art, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography, textiles, wood, metal & glass. Enjoy beauty products, botanical & gourmet treats all made at home. There will be a wide variety of food vendors serving freshly prepared food. Music, kid’s craft activities & a bicycle treasure hunt, known as “Pedal for Treasure” make this a fun, family friendly event. This festival is held in the beautiful live oak covered Postell Park in the heart of the Pier.
Taste of Glynn 2017

Come and enjoy the 17th annual Taste of Glynn! Held at the historic King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort, talented chefs and caterers from the Golden Isles will showcase their amazing talents. Take part in the Silent Auction for your chance to win a coveted assortment of finds from vacations to jewelry, original works of art to gourmet delicacies.
A Taste of Glynn is more than a treasured local tradition. While the food is sublime and the oceanfront setting is legendary, perhaps the most unforgettable offering of the evening is hope. The event is the primary fundraiser for the Glynn Community Crisis Center, which serves victims of domestic violence. If you’ve ever come to St. Simons and asked a local where you should go for some good southern cuisine they will undoubtedly tell you these three spots. From local diners to a breakfast buffet there is something on the island for everyone. These are our top picks for favorite local spots on St. Simons Island!
Café Frederica, established in 1987 located on the North end of the island where their motto is, “Good Food, Good Friends.” Known for its diner like atmosphere, they definitely live up to their motto where everyone is welcome and everyone is family often times you will notice that employees know many of their patrons by name. You can get anything from omelets, roast beef hash to BLTs to club sandwiches and everything in-between.
Sweet Mamas, has been on the island for over 20 years and is loved for its quality breakfast sandwiches and bakery. Located inside the Winn Dixie shopping center it’s centrally located on the island making it a business hot spot for locals and visitors alike. Stop here for their famous pork pops!
Sandcastle, has been in business for over 25 years and is a local favorite! They are most well known for their delicious breakfast buffet. Located in the Pier Village, it’s fun to walk the beach from the Beach Club, The St. Simons Grand, or any oceanfront property you might be staying at to have a great breakfast.

Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) is proud to present a new art exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary/centennial of our National Parks Service. GVA has partnered with Fort Frederica and will be presenting over 100 works by local artists celebrating the beauty, history and uniqueness of our own National Park, Fort Frederica. The exhibition will include art work in various mediums including painting, pottery, photography and more.

Get ready for the annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Award. The daylong event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid’s Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation. Advanced tickets are $3 for kids under 6 years, $6 for adults or $4 and $9 on the day of the event.
