Cheers to a long weekend ahead! Memorial Day Weekend is a great holiday weekend where you get to spend some much needed extra time with friends and family and also get Monday off from work. St Simons Island is a great place to kick back and relax for the weekend, but you better believe you will see those patriotic red white and blue colors everywhere you look. Although a happy time with friends and family it’s also a time of remembrance and gratitude for those who have served our country. You will find many prod folks proudly displaying their American pride with flags and other red, white, and blue décor.

On St. Simons Island, we are honoring the lives lost with the Rotary Club of St Simons’ 27th Annual Taps at Twilight. The Memorial Day concert and tribute, will feature Retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Claude M. Kicklighter. The event will take place Monday, May 29th at 6:45 pm at the Neptune Park Bandstand. We will be honoring those who have fallen in service of our country as well as those who are serving bravely today. During this remembrance ceremony, you will experience pageantry of flags, patriotic music, posting and retiring of the colors, and “Taps” played by dueling trumpets. The Rotary Club of St. Simons is extended this event to everyone free of charge as a gift to the community. All you need to bring is your chair!
