St. Simons and Jekyll Island have a way of bringing their own festive flair to the holidays, blending incredible weather with coastal traditions that make the season truly unforgettable.

Tired of blistering snow? No problem: Here you’ll find nothing but twinkling lights draped over century-old oaks and miles of soft sand. Over the icy Northern winds? Nothing here but mild coastal breezes and beautiful moonlit nights. Plus, the whole family will love the dazzling light displays and festive happenings going on all winter long. So if you’re looking for a winter getaway that feels both magical and laid back, this is the place to be, and here are just a few reasons why:

Shrimp & Grits Festival: A Flavorful Start to the Season

Although technically, the holiday season doesn’t begin in October, why wait to kick it off when you can start early? The Jekyll Island Shrimp & Grits Festival is the perfect event to begin the festivities and enjoy a delicious taste of the Golden Isles! This flavorful celebration brings together local chefs, live music, and that warm, inviting spirit this coastal community is known for. From sizzling shrimp dishes prepared every way imaginable to creamy, dreamy grits, there’s plenty to sample while enjoying the family-friendly atmosphere. It’s a fun and tasty way to start your holiday adventures, experience the beautiful fall season, and meet some friendly locals!

Cold-Stunned Plunge on Jekyll Island

November brings the annual Cold-Stunned Plunge, which sees participants dashing into the Atlantic’s waters as spectators line the beach to root them on. This cheerful tradition raises awareness and funds for sea turtle conservation. Whether you’re plunging or watching, the event brings the community together in true Jekyll Island spirit.

Holiday Festivities on St. Simons Island

You’ll find no shortage of lively celebrations and family-friendly gatherings, so if you’re looking for more fun holiday events on St. Simons, here are a few standouts!

The season officially begins with the Pier Village Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Twinkling lights, festive music, and a visit from Santa make the season merry and bright, setting the tone for the weeks ahead. You can also browse for unique treasures at the Mistletoe Market, while the little ones delight in the holiday crafts and activities at Crafts in the Village in Postell Park. Another favorite is the Christmas Tour of Lights with Lighthouse Trolleys. Don a jacket, bring some hot cocoa, and enjoy a guided ride through the island’s most dazzling holiday displays!

Christmas on Jekyll Island

If you’re searching for unforgettable holiday events on Jekyll Island, you’ll be happy to know that this barrier island transforms into a true winter wonderland each holiday season.

The highlight is Holly Jolly Jekyll, where over a million lights illuminate the island, creating a magical backdrop for the light parade and nightly activities that keep the holiday spirit alive all December long! Festivities include a Big Truck Roundup, fireworks displays, and photo ops in Peppermint Land, a miniature golf course surrounded by life-sized holiday treats and characters. In the historic district, step back in time with horse-drawn carriage rides and guided tours sure to delight visitors of all ages!

Other Golden Isles Holiday Events

Just a short drive from St. Simons and Jekyll Island, Brunswick offers even more holiday events. The Brunswick Porchfest fills the streets with live music and a sense of community as bands gather to perform on neighborhood front porches, and the historic Ritz Theatre brings Charles Dickens’ timeless tale, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ to life on stage. You won’t want to miss the Brunswick Christmas Parade, an evening procession starting at Howard Coffin Park, winding down Gloucester Street, featuring marching bands, colorful floats, and a visit from Santa Claus. With so many holiday happenings nearby, there’s no shortage of festive fun in the Golden Isles!

Ringing in the New Year in the Golden Isles

We can’t think of a better place to bring in the New Year than the Golden Isles. Here, the celebrations are a little more laid-back, making it an ideal location for couples, families, and groups of all sizes that want to toast the year ahead without a big fuss. Why not celebrate simply with a quiet meal, a moonlit beachwalk, or just listening to the waves as the clock strikes midnight? Pick a holiday movie and cuddle up together in your vacation rental with pizza and popcorn, or treat the family to a special dinner at the Georgia Sea Grill. However you choose to welcome the New Year, the Golden Isles will make it a celebratory event!

Hunt for Treasures on Jekyll Island

Just when you thought the holiday season was wrapping up, Jekyll Island gives you its Island Treasures event in January and February. Inspired by the glass floats once used by East Coast fishermen, this annual hide-and-seek adventure invites participants to search for glass globes hidden around the island. Find one and you can exchange it for a hand-blown glass float, each crafted by a different artist from across the country—a magical keepsake of your Golden Isles getaway!

St. Simons is known for its wide beaches, towering oaks, and Southern hospitality, but did you know it’s also a great place to bring your four-legged friends? Whether your dog’s idea of a good time is chasing waves or just napping under the shade of a tree, you’ll find plenty of ways to keep their tails wagging. Here’s everything you need to know to plan the perfect pet-friendly vacation on St. Simons!

St. Simons Dog Parks

With several dog parks on St. Simons, your pups can play off-leash, make new furry friends, and sniff to their heart’s content!

Frederica Park

Frederica Park is way more than just a dog park; it’s a full family outing. With wide open spaces and separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, it’s a great place for pups to stretch their legs while the rest of the crew enjoys everything else the park offers. With watering and clean-up stations, a botanical trail and labyrinth for leashed strolls, nearby picnic pavilions, a playground, and restrooms, this thoughtfully designed space makes it easy to spend the entire morning or afternoon outside!

Epworth Park

Epworth Park is a great place for two and four-legged visitors craving a little sunshine. While tennis players enjoy the courts and families gather for a friendly game of bocce, pups can burn off energy at the fenced dog park, complete with agility-style play features that add a little extra fun to every visit. With room to socialize in a safe space, shaded areas for pup parents to relax while their furry friends play, and convenient picnic tables and restrooms nearby, Epworth Park makes it easy to turn a quick outing into a whole afternoon of fresh air and fun!

Kings Park

An extension of Mallery Park, Kings Park is a local favorite where pups and their people can all stay active. With a dedicated dog park, it’s also a fun place to challenge your family, with tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts nearby. Shaded play areas keep pups cool on sunny days, and with separate areas for large and small dogs, and convenient watering and clean-up stations, it’s easy to relax while your dog runs free in a safe, well-maintained space..

Pet-Friendly Trails on St. Simons

Whether strolling under the oaks or exploring native plants, these pet-friendly paths let you roam freely while taking in the sights!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants on St. Simons

St. Simons has plenty of pet-friendly restaurants where you and your pup can relax and enjoy the scenery, from patios with water bowls to casual eateries that welcome four-legged guests with open arms. Here are a few of our favorites:

Where to Find Pet Food, Toys, & Accessories

Need supplies for your furry travel companion? Check out local favorites like Island Dog and Pet Exchange for food, toys, accessories, and anything else your pet might need.

Boarding and Dog Daycare on St. Simons Island

When your pup needs a little pampering or a safe place to stay, St. Simons Puppy Paradise offers top-notch boarding and daycare with plenty of tail wags to go around. The Pack Canine Studio is a favorite among local dog lovers for grooming and training.

Local and 24-Hour Veterinary Care Near St. Simons

Peace of mind comes easily with trusted local veterinary care nearby. Seaside Veterinary Hospital and Island Animal Hospital offer compassionate, full-service care for pets, while 24-Hour Emergency Veterinary Service in Fernandina is there for after-hours emergencies when you need it most.

St. Simons Pet-Friendly Beaches, Rules, and Tips

One of the many charms of St. Simons is how often you’ll spot happy dogs strolling alongside their humans: it’s truly a pet lover’s paradise. Dogs are welcome on the beach year-round, though seasonal restrictions apply between the Saturday before Memorial Day through Labor Day, when pups aren’t permitted on the beach between 9 AM and 6 PM.

Off-leash play is allowed only if dogs are under voice control, and owners are required to clean up after their pets. While waste bags are provided at most beach access points, it’s always a good idea to bring your own.

Some of the most popular beach spots for dogs include Massengale Park, with plenty of parking and green space; Gould’s Inlet, a favorite for sunrise walks; East Beach and Coast Guard Beach, ideal for social dogs; and the quieter East Beach neighborhood access points, perfect for shy pups who prefer a little more space.

Jekyll Island Pet-Friendly Beaches and Rules

Jekyll Island also makes it easy to enjoy the sand and surf with your furry companion. While dogs are welcome on most beaches year-round, there are a few exceptions. Look for signage around the South Dunes and St. Andrews Picnic Areas where pets are prohibited. Leashes are required at all times (maximum 16 feet), and as always, please be sure to clean up after your pup. Driftwood Beach is a favorite for quiet sunrise strolls, while St. Andrews Beach is perfect for a peaceful sunset walk.

Shh…don’t tell everyone, but there’s a Secret Season on the Georgia Coast, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. It’s that magical time between August and November, when the pace slows down, the summer crowds fade, and St. Simons and Jekyll Island shine in a whole new way. Think quieter beaches, perfect weather, and room to roam without waiting in lines. It’s the ideal time to make memories, whether that’s biking through tree-lined paths, exploring historic sites without the rush, or enjoying sunset strolls with the ones you love. We’ve got a feeling Secret Season might just become your favorite time for a fall beach trip to the Georgia coast!

Why Visit the Golden Isles in the Fall?

We can think of lots of reasons why a fall beach trip to St. Simons is a great idea, but here are a few that stand out. The temps are still perfect for building sandcastles and splashing in the surf, but the beaches are much quieter, like your own private playground. You won’t need to elbow your way into your favorite restaurant or book activities weeks in advance. With lighter traffic and fewer crowds, everything feels easier, breezier, and way more relaxing. It’s beach vacation magic for groups of all sizes!

What to Pack for a Fall Beach Trip

Packing for a fall beach trip to the Golden Isles is all about being comfy, cozy, and ready for anything. Start with the essentials—light layers for warm afternoons, a jacket or sweatshirt for those cooler evenings, and your favorite sunglasses for soaking up that golden island glow. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for browsing along charming streets and hopping on trolley rides. Toss in a swimsuit, a wide-brimmed hat, a good book, and maybe even a cozy blanket for sunset-watching, and don’t forget the s’mores supplies. Although you can’t have fires on the beach, you can still enjoy a cozy night in with sweet treats and warm cocoa!

Things to Do This Fall on St. Simons and Jekyll Island

Although the weather on St. Simons and Jekyll Island is pretty incredible year-round, each month during the fall has its perks!

August—Late Summer Escapes

Summer may be easing into the rearview, but there’s still plenty of sunshine and fun to go around. With temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to the low 90s, it’s warm enough for beach days, pool dips, and outdoor adventures. Cast off on a fishing charter, paddle alongside dolphins on a coastal tour, or kayak through the quiet beauty of the marshes. It’s the sweet spot where you get all the perks of summer, just a little more laid back.

For even more fun, check out the Little Light Music Concert Series on the St. Simons Lighthouse lawn and Crafts in the Village on select weekends throughout the fall!

September—Outdoor Exploration

The days are warm, the skies are clear, and the crowds? Practically gone. September is a dream for early fall beachgoers, ideal for biking the shaded trails, taking historic trolley rides through St. Simons, or enjoying a peaceful afternoon shell hunting. Whether you’re sipping coffee on a patio, watching dolphins play from the shoreline, or learning about local marine life at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, September is a great time to get outside and explore the island!

Learn about the Tree Spirits and find the hidden carved faces in the live oaks throughout town.

Swing by for the First Friday in Historic Downtown Brunswick, where shops, galleries, and restaurants open their doors in the evening with music, art, food, and beverages. You definitely won’t want to miss Art Under the Oaks, a beloved festival featuring fine art, crafts, live music, and local bites under the canopy of ancient oaks.

October—Fun Fall Festivals

As the coastal breeze turns crisp and the humidity fades, October brings postcard-perfect weather to the Golden Isles. The temps are ideal for a guided horseback tour, biking under the moss-covered oaks, or strolling through Pier Village, browsing the shops, and watching the sunset at a local restaurant. Explore centuries-old landmarks and enjoy the local events and fall festivals that keep the calendar lively. Here are a few of our favorites:

November—Seasonal Celebrations

November wraps up the fall season with a festive energy that hints at the holidays ahead. It’s a great time for morning nature walks or teeing off on world-class golf courses with crisp air and fewer players on the greens. Holiday shopping kicks off with local markets and boutiques offering one-of-a-kind finds, and events like Brunswick Porch Fest and the RSM Classic bring music and PGA-level excitement to the area. Spirited celebrations like Holly Jolly Jekyll and the Cold-Stunned Plunge only add to the festivities, making November feel downright magical!

Where to Eat

Whether you’re craving coastal classics or creative twists on Southern staples, St. Simons Island serves up flavor in every bite. Enjoy fresh-caught seafood at local favorites like Brogen’s or indulge in upscale Southern fare in a cozy corner at Georgia Sea Grill. For casual bites, head to Southern Soul Barbeque for slow-smoked goodness or Porch for mouthwatering catfish, Georgia shrimp, and Nashville-style hot chicken.

St. Simons Island offers so many family-friendly activities that it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why we’ve highlighted eight must-try experiences for kids visiting this summer that showcase the best of what makes St. Simons special – from beautiful beaches to historic sites and local treats.

Here’s what makes each of these bucket list activities worth checking off during your island visit. (You can grab a copy of our printable bucket list coloring page at the end of this post, or find it included in our guest welcome packet!)

Climb to the Top of the St. Simons Lighthouse

Try counting all 129 steps as you climb the St. Simons Lighthouse, built in 1872. This 104-foot lighthouse gives you great views of the coast from the top.

Kids love hearing ghost stories about Frederick Osborne, a former lighthouse keeper. The museum in the keeper’s house has exhibits about boats, lighthouses, and local history that kids can touch and explore.

Location: 101 12th Street, St. Simons Island Hours and Costs: Check the Coastal Georgia Historical Society website

Hunt for the Mermaid Tree Spirit

One of St. Simons Island’s most magical attractions is its collection of tree spirits – intricate faces carved into live oak trees throughout the island. The Mermaid Tree Spirit is especially enchanting for children to discover!

Tip: The Golden Isles Welcome Center has maps to help you locate the many different tree spirits and you might find that the mermaid is right around the corner!

Ride Through Town on the St. Simons Trolley

For a fun way to see the island, catch Anchor Trolleys’ colorful open-air trolley. Kids love the wind-in-your-hair experience as the trolley loops around the south end of St. Simons!

Starting from the historic Pier Village, the trolley makes stops at popular spots like Arnold Road (near King & Prince Hotel), Massengale Park (beach access), Coast Guard Station (East Beach), Southern Soul BBQ, Red Fern Village (shops and restaurants), and Retreat Village. Drivers share fun island stories along the way.

Departures: Regular loops from Pier Village Tickets: Available from the driver or online

Get Ice Cream from Frosty’s

Cool off at Frosty’s Griddle & Shake on Mallery Street, created by the team behind the popular Southern Soul Barbeque. This local favorite serves soft-serve cones, floats, milkshakes, and their signature “Hurricane” (their own take on a blended ice cream treat).

Beyond ice cream, they also serve tasty smashed cheeseburgers, chili dogs, and shrimp baskets if you’re hungry for a meal.

Location: 501 Mallery St, St. Simons Island Hours: 11am to 8pm daily (closed Mondays)

Build a Sandcastle

St. Simons beaches offer the perfect sand consistency for impressive sandcastle creations! Don’t underestimate this classic beach activity—when the whole family gets involved, the laughs and teamwork become the highlight of the day. The gentle slope and wide shoreline at East Beach make it an ideal spot for family sandcastle projects, with convenient facilities nearby.

Tip: Visit during low tide for the best sandcastle-building conditions. The sand is more compact and easier to work with, and you’ll have more beach space to create your masterpiece!

Collect Seashells

St. Simons beaches offer a casual treasure hunt for shell collectors, especially after storms or during low tide. East Beach and the stretch from Coast Guard Beach to East Beach tend to have the best finds. Make a game out of finding different shapes and colors with your kids!

Tip: Always check shells to make sure they’re not occupied! Hermit crabs and other small creatures often make their homes in empty shells. If it’s occupied, gently place it back where you found it.

Best Time: 1-2 hours before or after low tide or after storms

Fish or Crab from the St. Simons Pier

Kids love watching the action at the St. Simons Pier, one of only three ocean piers on the Georgia coast. Try your hand at fishing or net crabbing, or simply stroll the length of the pier to enjoy views of Jekyll Island to the south.

If you want to fish or crab, the pier has convenient tray tables and water hoses along the railings for preparing bait and cleaning catches. Younger kids especially enjoy dropping crab nets with bait and checking what they’ve caught.

Not interested in fishing? The benches along each side of the pier offer great spots to sit and watch local fishermen and crabbers in action. It’s a relaxing way to spend an hour, especially at sunset!

Visit the Sea Turtles on Jekyll

Just a short drive from St. Simons is the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. This is Georgia’s only sea turtle hospital, where kids can see real turtle patients in the rehabilitation pavilion. The center features hands-on, interactive exhibits where children learn about sea turtle life cycles and conservation through touch displays and games.

Looking for even more turtle adventures? Check out their summer programs! Join Night Patrol or Dawn Patrol to ride with researchers searching for nesting turtles, or try a Turtle Walk to look for tracks on the beach. With luck, you might spot wild sea turtles!

Hours: Open daily from 9am to 5pm Summer Programs: Visit their website for more information

Father’s Day is right around the corner, and whether you’re a master planner or a spur-of-the-moment kind of family, we’ve got your back with stellar recommendations for a vacation that’ll make dad feel like the MVP he truly is.

Not sure where to start? We know every dad is different, so we’ve put together some ideas for where to stay and what to do based on what your dad loves most!

The Chief Fun Officer Dad

He’s the director of summer fun, orchestrating the perfect blend of beach days, pool time, and outdoor gatherings. This dad knows exactly when to suggest a sunset beach walk and when to fire up the grill for dinner on the patio. These Summer Favorites each offer something special—whether it’s a private pool, multiple outdoor seating areas for his morning coffee ritual, or the perfect location just steps from the beach!

This dad is always on the lookout for unique family adventures, like the Lady Jane Shrimpin’ Excursion, where everyone can explore coastal marshes and handle fascinating sea creatures while learning from the onboard marine naturalist!

The Ad-venture Capitalist Dad

He’s the master of the impromptu getaway, turning random free days into beach adventures! This dad has the family beach bag perpetually packed in the closet. The Sea Gate’s unique one-night minimum stay option is his secret weapon, allowing him to transform an ordinary weekend into valuable family beach time just steps from the sand!

Mini golf at Neptune Park is his go-to vacation move—the perfect spontaneous activity that doesn’t require advance reservations but guarantees competitive family fun. One minute you’re walking through the village, the next you’re watching him line up a putt like it’s the Masters final round.

The Lifeguard of the Party Dad

He’s the unofficial welcome committee at the pool, knowing everyone’s names by lunchtime. This dad has a knack for striking up conversations with neighboring chairs and turning strangers into vacation friends before the first application of sunscreen wears off. The Beach Club’s spacious oceanfront pool area is his natural habitat, where he alternates between refreshing dips and his hourly “who wants to take a beach walk?” announcements.

Inevitably, he’ll miss a spot with the sunscreen, but that won’t slow him down. Indoor activities become his perfect pivot strategy—keeping the family entertainment going while strategically giving his lobster-red shoulders a break from the sun without missing a beat in the vacation fun!

The History Buff Dad

This dad is a mix of tour guide and treasure hunter, turning a simple stroll into a full-blown history lesson. And honestly, we love him for it. Who needs a time machine when you’ve got a dad who insists on reading every plaque, sign, and interpretive panel out loud? And while we might gently tease him for it, we know that these are the moments we’ll look back on fondly – the times when Dad stopped us in our tracks to make sure we didn’t just see the world, but truly got to know it.

What do history buffs love? A good treasure hunt! That’s why searching for the island’s famous Tree Spirits is a perfect vacation activity and an excellent way to explore St. Simons. With 11 of these intricate face carvings located in public areas throughout the island, hunting for Tree Spirits makes for a fantastic family biking adventure!

The Hot Off The Press Dad

He’s like the family’s personal newswire for all things vacation. Before anyone else has even thought about packing, he’s already keyed into the most recent additions, ready to book the perfect spot. The New Properties collection is his playground—where he can discover all the latest additions to our rental program with their modern touches and fresh amenities.

The newest restaurant on St. Simons? He’s already bookmarked the menu! King City Kitchen, newly opened in Pier Village, is the perfect addition to his vacation itinerary. He’ll arrive with recommendations ready and encourage everyone to order different dishes, creating a fun way for the family to bond over favorites while discovering new flavors together!

No matter which category best describes the dad in your life (or if he’s a blend of them all), the Golden Isles offers the perfect summer vacation rental to celebrate him this Father’s Day. The greatest gift isn’t another gadget—it’s quality time together creating new memories! Browse all Golden Isles rentals to find the ideal match for your dad’s vacation style.

A long weekend on St. Simons Island might not seem like enough time to take it all in, but it’s surprising how effortless exploring can be. With its walkable and bike-friendly layout, many must-see spots are just minutes apart, making it easy to experience more than you might expect each day without feeling rushed. From sunrise strolls along the Atlantic Ocean to unforgettable meals and exploring historic sights, this three-day weekend itinerary lets you soak up the best of this sun-kissed coastal island at your own pace!

Day One – Ease into the Weekend

Hit the Visitor’s Center

The Golden Isles Welcome Center might not be at the top of your ‘things to do in St. Simons list,’ but trust us, you’ll want to make this stop. The folks here are eager to help and want you to make the most of your stay in the Golden Isles, and you’ll feel much more comfortable exploring after chatting with the friendly staff. They have dozens of brochures, tour information, and even a souvenir area—it’s the perfect way to kickstart your weekend in the St. Simons community.

Walk Along St. Simons Island Pier

Just a short stroll away, the St. Simons Island Pier offers the perfect chance to settle into island life. Enjoy the ocean breezes as you stroll hand in hand, watching the fishermen reel in their catch while taking in the stunning coastal scenery.

Head to the Beach

With dozens of beach access points, you’ll have no problem finding your way to the sand. Enjoy a long stroll with your significant other, relax in the sun, reconnect, and try not to doze off and miss the glorious weather!

Enjoy a Relaxing Dinner

A quiet dinner might be in order since it’s your first night in town. At Dorothy’s Cocktail & Oyster Bar, you can enjoy fresh seafood, creative cuisine, and expertly crafted cocktails. Whether making selections from the raw bar, sharing small plates, or enjoying a hearty entree, the diverse menu showcases the best of coastal Georgia’s flavors. Sit back, sip, and toast to the start of your weekend on St. Simons Island!

Watch the Sunset on East Beach

While anywhere on St. Simons Island is a great place to catch a sunset, we’re partial to East Beach. The locals are warm and friendly, and watching their furry companions run and play is a delightful experience. The views are spectacular, and it’s a nice place to relax, dip your toes in the sand, and watch the incredible display as the sun dips below the horizon.

Day Two – Shopping and Museums

Fuel Up with Coffee

A day of shopping should always start with a morning brew, and we’ve got a few suggestions. Jittery Joe’s in Redfern Village and Wake Up Coffee Company in Aviator Plaza offer the perfect beginning to every day with cappuccinos, smoothies, lattes, and more! Grab a muffin, some avocado toast, or a parfait with berries before seeing the sights!

Hit the Museums

One of the best ways to dive into the history of St. Simons Island is with a visit to the WWII Homefront Museum. Here, you’ll discover coastal Georgia’s role in the war effort and learn about the local men and women who played a part in this pivotal time in history. The St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, located on the island’s southern tip, is just as fascinating. Browse the displays, learn about its use as a navigational aid, and climb the 129 steps to the top, just like the lightkeepers of years ago!

Go on a Trolley Tour

One of the best ways to see the sights is on a trolley tour! Purchase tickets online and embark on a lively 90-minute tour filled with history, local legends, and fascinating stories about St. Simons Island. With friendly guides and plenty of stops along the way, it’s an entertaining and easy way to get to know the island.

Check out the Shops

A trip to St. Simons wouldn’t be complete without a little shopping! Pier Village is a quaint waterfront hub filled with local boutiques, coastal treasures, and plenty of places to grab a snack or ice cream cone while you browse. Just a short drive away, Redfern Village offers a laid-back shopping experience tucked beneath beautiful oak trees, with trendy shops, home decor, and little treasures. Whether hunting for a souvenir, a breezy beach outfit, or a one-of-a-kind find, shopping in St. Simons is all about strolling, exploring, and soaking up the atmosphere!

Drinks and Dinner

Given your location, you can even walk to dinner! Georgia Sea Grill is an excellent choice, featuring local specialties, like low country crab soup, shrimp and grits, poached salmon, and crab cakes. They also offer vegan, poultry, and beef options and a delightful drink menu with a rotating lineup of beers on tap, craft and imports, and ciders.

Day Three – A Hearty Breakfast and Jekyll Island

Breakfast is served all day at Palmer’s Village Cafe, so feel free to sleep in. Once there, a hearty menu awaits, so come hungry! The omelet selection is off the charts, but the huevos rancheros are just as satisfying. Of course, you could opt for the banana pudding pancakes or the maple glaze and bacon french toast, but that’s your call!

Photo Session at Driftwood Beach

Since you’re only 30 minutes from Jekyll Island, a pit stop is definitely in order, and this beautiful stretch of coastline won’t disappoint. It’s a state park, so an entrance fee is required, but it’s minimal and completely worth it. For a unique beach experience, swing by Driftwood Beach on the island’s northern end. Uprooted and gnarled driftwood trees scattered along the coastline create an otherworldly landscape, making it one of the most photographed places on the island!

Pick Up Last-Minute Souvenirs

Jekyll Island boasts two popular shopping areas: Beach Village, located on Main Street near the beach, is filled with delightful shops and restaurants. The Pier Road Shops in the historic district is another option and a great place to pick up tee shirts, sunglasses, and gifts for friends and family before you head out of town.

Now that you know how to make the most of your weekend on St. Simons Island, all that’s left is finding the perfect place to stay—and we’ve got the perfect place! Hodnett Cooper offers a wide selection of vacation homes and condos near the beach and fun attractions. All that’s left to do is browse, book, and plan your getaway!P.S.
