Whether you are looking for history, food, beach scenes, or shopping, biking is the perfect way to spend a day on St. Simons Island. With over 30 miles of biked pathways, the options are endless. To start your adventure, check out this user-friendly bike map.
For a quick family friendly bike ride, start by renting bikes from Ocean Motion . Bike along marsh lined sidewalks to East Beach; and view the coastal cottages along the way. For a quick history lesson, stop at the WWII home front museum, then relax on the beach while the kids frolic in the waves.
To explore the Pier Village, rent bikes from Two Brothers Bike Shop, located at Mallory Street or Island Bicycle, across the street from Hodnett Cooper Vacation Rentals on Ocean Blvd. Bike down the pier and tempt your taste buds at one of the many restaurants. After a quick bite, let the kids play on the playground and then test your endurance by climbing the historic St. Simons Island Lighthouse. If you want to extend your ride, continue down Ocean Boulevard and ride under the oak lined pathways of Kings Way.
Dotted by neighborhoods, the shaded bike paths of Frederica Road lead to the north end of St. Simons. You can rent bikes from Monkeywrench Bicycles off of Frederica Road and start your journey there. On the way, you will find nature trails, parks, restaurants and shops. For history lovers, make sure to stop for a tour at the historic Harrington School, then continue to Christ Church. Nature lovers can explore the 600 acres of preserved green space at Cannon’s Point or rest at Frederica Park.

Pumpkin Patch & Pony Rides
What better way to enjoy a fall day than at a pumpkin patch. The Stables at Frederica are excited to welcome you to their annual Pumpkin Patch and Pony Rides all proceeds benefit the Middle and High School IEA teams.
Fall is the perfect time of year in the Golden Isles! The days are still warm enough to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lay by the pool. The nights start to cool off a bit so you can enjoy walking to dinner or opting for dinner on the patio instead of inside. There is never a lack of great family friendly activities on St. Simons and the surrounding areas, but this time of year the outdoor activities are endless! Rhythm on the River
Come on out to the Rhythm on the River event from 8:00 p.m. at Mary Ross Waterfront Park: Bay & Gloucester Streets. Bring the kids, chairs or blanket, a picnic and your favorite beverage.

Experience firsthand what it is like to be aboard an authentic shrimp boat. This popular attraction may be hard to get a reservation on during the summer months but during the winter you won’t have a problem. After boarding the Lady Jane, the vessel makes her way into the marsh. After lowering the nets and trawling the nets are brought up the bounty of sea life is laid out before you as a marine biologist enlightens you on the findings.
With miles of winding bike paths you can cover most of the island without setting foot in the road. You will enjoy a ride along the marsh as well next to huge oaks covered in Spanish moss. Bike trails run all the way to Mallory Pier and past the airport making it fun and easy to have a nice lunch out before heading back to your oceanfront condo.
During the summer the beach is filled with beach lovers lounging, playing in the water, throwing a football, or maybe playing bocce. However, in the winter months you will have room to roam! With mild temperatures year round you may even be able to enjoy a walk on the beach in shorts. Dogs are welcome too, so be sure to bring your furry children along with you for your relaxing walk on the sandy beaches of St. Simons.
In the summer you might opt for a day at the water park, pool, or beach over checking out all the wonderful history St. Simons has to offer. The winter however is the perfect chance to get out and explore the rich history the island offers. Visit Fort Frederica and learn about and how it guarded the coast from the Spanish occupied St. Augustine. Or maybe see what life was like at an authentic rice plantation at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation.

There is always so much going on in the Golden Isles from concerts to art exhibits, to festivals… there is something for everyone. The Georgia Artists with DisAbilities Exhibit features 49 entries that include paintings, photographs, clay pottery, textiles and other mediums. Local artist Risa Rambo of St Simons Island received an Honorable Mention and her “Smocked Dress” will be on display.
Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) is proud to present a new art exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary/centennial of our National Parks Service. GVA has partnered with Fort Frederica and will be presenting over 100 works by local artists celebrating the beauty, history and uniqueness of our own National Park, Fort Frederica. The exhibition will include art work in various mediums including painting, pottery, photography and more.

The Literary Guild presents A War

Annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee

Get ready for the annual Brunswick Rockin’ Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Award. The daylong event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid’s Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation. Advanced tickets are $3 for kids under 6 years, $6 for adults or $4 and $9 on the day of the event.
St. Simons Island Antique Show
November 5th to 6th, 2016
Antique dealers from all over the southeast, featuring a vast array of fine and fun merchandise, including furniture, collectibles, primitives, jewelry, silver, glassware, etc.
On Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., the Society will host its 2nd annual Community Day event. The museum will be open free of charge and offer tours, educational crafts, and activities for children and families.
Rhythm & Brews Fest
November 5th, 2016
Enjoy live music from local bands throughout the day, tastings from dozens of craft beers, and a barbecue cookout at the Holiday Inn Resort on Jekyll Island. The event is free to attend and tickets are available for tasting and barbecue.
Gala is Victory Boards’ primary fundraising effort annually, traditionally a black-tie event, which includes dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions.
Event will be held at the Gruber Aviation Hanger at the McKinnon St. Simons Airport.

Stash Your Trash will be taking place Friday 10/28 at 7:30 am. Before heading to the BIG GAME, please join us in the 9th annual Georgia/Florida Community Beach Sweep. The bags and gloves will be provided, along with bug spray and sunscreen… we just need Y-O-U!
Friday 10/28 there will be ALL DAY trolley rides starting at 9am. Stay safe and avoid parking trouble with an ALL-DAY $10 Trolley Ride Wristband to Frat Beach @ East Beach, SSI. Lighthouse Trolleys will run continuously from Sea Palms Resort to Coast Guard Station, East Beach, St. Simons Island, GA.
The BIG game starts at 3:30 next Saturday on the SEC Network. You can watch locally at many restaurants and bars. OR you can also catch a ride to the stadium in Jacksonville with Light House Trolleys leaving at 9am from Sea Palms, $75 pp and BYOB.
