How far is Savannah from St. Simons Island?
An hour and a half North or an hour and a half South? Either way you go you will find great cities to explore for your day trip while staying on St. Simons Island.
Savannah: only about 80 miles north from St. Simons Island but seems like worlds away. You will find bustling streets with tourist from far and wide who travelled to see Georgia’s oldest city and one of the original 13 colonies. People love Savannah for many of the same reasons why they love St Simons Island and the South in general. It is known for friendly people, great weather, and fine cuisine. Walk up and down historic River Street where you will enjoy being river front with restaurants, shops, and bars galore. You will also find local vendors and entertainers lining the streets which adds to the authentic experience and fun feel.
What about Jacksonville, Florida?
Jacksonville: only about 80 miles south, if you are looking to browse through a quaint downtown area or maybe you like more commercialized shopping, Jacksonville is the place to go. The downtown area is packed with unique clothing stores, restaurants, bars, city markets, and festivals as well as great theaters. Also in Jacksonville there is large outdoor mall with more shops than we can count. If you have been dying to spend some vacation money then head to the Town Center in Jacksonville where there will be plenty of stores for you to choose from.
St. Simons Island has so much to offer that we know it may be hard to find the time and desire to slip away for the afternoon. If you do find time to explore outside of the island these options, we be sure not to disappoint!
