Your St. Simons Early Fall Itinerary

Fuel Up and Find Your Bearings

Kick off the day with breakfast at Mallery Street Cafe, a cozy local favorite serving delicious meals from morning through the afternoon.  After you’ve fueled up, the folks at the Golden Isles Welcome Center are happy to help with any questions you might have about the area. Beyond a warm welcome, you’ll also find maps, souvenirs, and a glimpse into St. Simons’ unique Tree Spirits art installation. Have fun finding them!

Find Local Treasures and Fish at the Pier

Check out the Crafts in the Village at Postell Park, open on select weekends throughout the early fall.  Featuring local art, crafts, and other vendor booths, it’s a beautiful place to shop for unique finds! If your travels should find you on our beautiful island in late September, Art Under the Oaks features an impressive collection of artwork, jewelry, photography, ceramics, and more!

Afterward, cast a line from the St. Simons Island Pier, a popular spot for casual anglers and seasoned fishers alike. Just steps away, St. Simons Bait and Tackle can supply you with all the essentials, from rods and reels to fresh bait and local tips!

Grab Lunch and Browse the Shops

Head to Porch for a laid-back lunch featuring Southern-inspired favorites and coastal classics all served by a warm and friendly staff. After lunch, stroll through Pier Village to explore a mix of local boutiques and gift shops just steps from the ocean.

Enjoy a Sweet Treat and Hit a Museum

Cool off with a creamy milkshake or float from Frosty’s Griddle and Shake, a retro spot known for sweet treats and casual eats. Then walk over to the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum to explore one of the island’s most iconic landmarks. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the coast!

Head to the Beach and Enjoy a Delicious Dinner

While the Golden Isles are known for some of the best beaches in Georgia, East Beach is a popular spot to soak up the sun and enjoy the waves, and early fall is the perfect time to experience its beautiful shoreline. After a day in the fresh air, head to The Half Shell for fresh-caught seafood, local favorites, and a laid-back atmosphere right in the heart of Pier Village.

With fewer crowds and lovely weather, this early fall itinerary proves there’s no better time to explore St. Simons Island! From beach walks to local bites—it all adds up to one unforgettable day. Be sure to read up on our other fall events to make the most of your visit!
